Painted while the White House was located at Custer State Game Lodge in the Black Hills of South Dakota, Ashford gained international fame for painting U.S. President Calvin Coolidge and his wife, Grace. He painted two portraits of both of them. This one hangs in the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Library and Museum (CCPLM). The other, featuring a green dress, can be seen in the Custer State Game Lodge. It is signed Ashford, and the year was 1927. The size is about 36 x 48 inches.
