Painted while the White House was located at Custer State Game Lodge in the Black Hills of South Dakota, Ashford gained international fame for painting U.S. President Calvin Coolidge and his wife, Grace. It is signed F.C. Ashford, and the year was 1927. He was allowed to do two paintings of Grace. This one in a summery green dress, and the other in a red suit. The size is about 36 x 48 inches. This painting along with two others, are on permanent display in the lobby of the State Game Lodge in Custer, South Dakota.
