The official name of this painting is not known. It is a slight departure from Ashford’s typical work in that the background is very loose, broad, and includes thick brush strokes. There is a date penciled in below his signature but for some reason he didn’t paint it. It appears to be 1931. The size is 30 x 36 and is unusually signed, F. Clifford Ashford.
