This very early Parisian work by Frank Ashford is in the private collection of the descendants of Frank’s sister, Grace Ashford. It is dated 1912. Most interesting, is that what remains (color image) is only a portion of the original work, shown in the postcard. We suspect the painting was damaged when transporting it to the U.S. from Paris, but that is purely speculation. The postcard states it was included in the Paris Salon in 1912. We presume the signature in the upper left was added after the damage, and by Ashford himself, as his original signature can be seen on the postcard in his typical lower-right spot. Current owners have had the painting cleaned and conserved by a professional art conservator in 2021. It measures 26″ x 20 1/8″ x 3/4″
