Lone Fisherman Along a River

This beautiful painting was donated to the Dacotah Prairie Museum (Aberdeen, SD) in 2024 by Ginny Topping from Oregon. Ginny (Virginia) was a niece of Frank’s and passed away in 2024. There are no specific details known about this painting. However, the scene depicted appears to be a popular spot for Frank Ashford to paint. Because it came from the West Coast, we first assumed the scene was from there. But a title plate attached to a similar painting called, Along the Jim, suggests this too is also from “The Jim”, which is a river in South Dakota right near the Ashford farm in Brown County, SD. Another painting, Square River Scene, features similar trees and water. This is featured with permission from the Dacotah Prairie Museum.
